The camera is in the Mayor's office and points towards the north-east. It shows Chapleau's waterfront. This area contributes much to the good quality of life enjoyed in Chapleau. You see here the Kebesquasheshing River, also referred to as Chapleau River or Front River. This section of the Kebesquasheshing River would be described more accurately as a chain of lakes. Here are photos and a map of the lakes. The chain of lakes stretches north from here to a distance of about 12 miles and is one of Chapleau's greatest assets. Right on the town's doorstep, it offers high quality recreation in the form of scenery, wildlife viewing, solitude and good fishing. Most of this waterfront is maintained as town beach by the municipality. It is a favorite spot to swim or sun bathe. Here also are walking trails, a roofed pavilion, picnic tables, the town dock and a public boat launch. |
